Need a 911 CIS Fuel Tank Strainer at bottom of tank

I seem to have a fuel tank in my 1973 1/2 911T CIS couple that doesn't match the "typical" fuel system diagram for a CIS car, which show two (2) fuel strainers mounted horizontally within the tank, one on the fuel outlet and the other on return line inlet. On my tank, there is a single strainer mounted vertically and attached to the drain plug at the bottom of the tank, where it appears to stain the fulel in a kind of sump area before being drawn to the fuel pump. I am assuming it is the original tank -- the plug has "BENZIN" stamped on it. Does anyone else have this type of tank or otherwise know where I can get this strainer or even the part number or part diagram for this tank? Thanks.

You need 911-201-141-00 tank filter. Our host has them for about $41 It threads into the bottom of the fuel tank. The parts catalog indicates it is for a 74..not to worry..the 73 1/2 was CIS..the catalog for 73 show a mechanically injected set up..which you do not have. There is a second filter back in the engine compartment. Stock..those are the two fuel filters, as I recall. You may be looking at the fuel pump..which lives just in back of the fuel tank. You will want to replace the tank filter after all these years..and the sealing ring too. Key in the above part number in the parts search and you will have the parts catalog on the site here. Thanks, exactly what I was looking for. Now I don't have to feel so stupid about stepping on the 38 year-old original part: the plastic basket was as fragile as an egg from sitting in gas all that time anyhow.

Hey Austin... Your fuel pump for the 73.5T is in the left (drivers side) wheel well, just in frint of the tire. You cab reach in and feel it easily. The tank fuel strainer is a bear to get out because its such a large diameter screw in piece. I fabricated two nuts on a bolt that fit the unit to remove and replace. I do not know if your refurbishing your tank, but many have reported here just how they have done it successfully. Good luck Bob 73.5T
