Is the shift lever stuck, 'springy' or loose?

If the shift linkage came loose; somewhere, it may be as far back as inside the gearbox.(there is a fulcrum point mounted to an access-plate "shift cover" which I've seen come loose --the fulcrum fork loosens from the cover on one corner. ..and can give springy feel as it flexes => not wanting to move into/out of a gear)

#6 is the fulcrum point (fork) and #5 the cover.

It just feels stuck. I did push on it very hard but it seems to be pretty tight. Thanks
