Oil cooler seals

I have read a few threads where people have used Curil-T on the engine mounted oil cooler seals. Is this necessary? I am addressing oil leaks from the three amigos and also takign care of the oil cooler whil I am in there.

If a sealent is necessary is there an alternative to curil-t?

Not necessary at all. You should install them without any sealant.

A better substance to apply to the seals, from a protection standpoint, is a silicone paste like Sil-Glyde or the Dow Corning 111 or 112 stuff. This stuff is mostly solvent resistant, so it repels oil and theoretically extends the life of the seals. Next to oil, I suspect heat is the major contributor to the demise of the seals over time?
