I bought one a few months ago for the engine rebuild. The whole discussion about drilling the holes is way overblown. It's a really simple process and the majority of residential floors will be fine. If not, it's not difficult to cut out some of the slab and re-pour footings.

I've had the 911 up on the lift for over a week at a time and haven't had any problems with it.

Having the lift has been amazing though. It makes working on the car so much more pleasurable.

+1 - I was one of the first to buy this lift when it came out. You will only read positive comments from me. If you have the ceiling height, then just go with a two-post asymmetric lift, around the same price and opening the doors is easier, but if like in my case, ceiling height IS an issue, then there is no better alternative out there. The ability to work under the car with nothing in the way is just priceless.

Dropping the engine and transmission out of the SC was a breeze!!!!

As to install, here are a few photos of mine:

My brother drilling the holes:

What is that lift cart you are using to get the motor in and out?

I have a MaxJax and a 930 and want to figure out to use the MaxJax to get the motor in and out.

and a transmission jack

Taking the engine and transmission out was super easy. Then, with the tranny jack, separating both was also very easy to do.

Thanx!

I've got this Moto Jack, do you think it would substitute for the tranny jack?

Sears Professional Moto Jack

Yes, it does. I have a similar one that I was going to use, but forgot that it was being used by a friend for one of his projects (rail buggy he is building and has my jack holding the engine).

So yes, that one also works like a charm.
