The motor had a rod knock Thursday a week before the event, and got a complete rebuild by Tuesday. On the bright side, it received a significant performance upgrade. The motor was converted from a mild hot rod 2.2 to a stroked 2.4, using a 2.7 crank and rods and 2.2E Ps&Cs and E cams. Heads were ported and polished. Result is a 10.0 compression ratio.

I had heard about this combination before( Wayne's Top Engine Pics", all I can say is that it was a hoot to drive. Lots of torque through out the power band, no lack of power at low revs like a S, but still screams at the top. The transmission was also rebuilt with short A-F-M-S-X gears which really helps.

As a side note, they only had three working days to completely rebuild this motor, including all the required machine work, Hats off to TRE for getting this done.

Glad I could come along with you for RRIV. We live the dream bro. Now let's do it again!...but don't park too close to me, no one notices my car:)

blucille 10-19-2011 04:57 AM

it was a hoot driving back with you, especially the little excursion past Paso Robles.....

Brandi has one sweet car, the details are all spot-on, it;s better than a candy store, the more you look, the more you want to touch every single detail....

nice job guys, and hats-off to TRE for another great build.

Wonderful build! All the many great details come together so well. Fantastic.

That Talbot position is spot on for visual appearance, how's the visibility from the inside?

I'm interested in how the head liner was done.

Any details?

Is the black area upholstered with vinyl, other, or painted?
What about the red area?

Looks like a GT2RS... only it looks good here. ;)

Simply Gorgeous!

Amazing how fast this (seemed to) come together!

It is in the perfect place for seeing a car in the blind spot, and instead of looking to my left to view through the side glass I look through the lower corner of the windshield, keeping my eyes on the road. I have one for the right fender, that I'll put in the same place for symmetry, but may need to use a convex mirror.

Good to see you at RRIV.
The looks great in person. Congrats Brandi and Dave for the tasteful build.
It is difficult to pin down my favorite part, but the hood hold downs may be the one thing...

The black areas are upholstered in black vinyl and are glued on like the A-B pillars.
The red area is alcantera sp?, that is sewn to the black vinyl, it has a thin backing and is glued to the roof. The original 911Rs had black painted metal, and a piece of red Perlon glued to the roof. We searched for months to find the correct red Perlon, but no luck. The Alcantera is the right color, and looks correct, but feels like suede. It turned out much better than I thought it would, and I like it.

This is a picture of a real R for reference.

I wanted to point out the roof light for those who missed it. Can you tell us more about it?
