Exclamation Running out of time - need quick answer!

This is so typical for me. I always get sencond thoughts in the last monent I want to buy a set of 1997 fully electric 993 seats for my 1984 Carrera 3,2. I was told by various people that the 993 seats would fit straight in without modifications and that the wirering for the electric adjustment would be no problem.

Now I've just got off the phone where I was told by a Porsche mechanic that the 993 seats didn't necessarily fit straight in He said something about the safety belt lock sitting on the seat instead of, as on my older car, on the floor. But no need to worry - he could make the seats fit my car, but of course that would add up in labour costs

So typical for me when it goes about my Porsche I'm now in a sort of panic condition. What do you guys think??? I don't want to spend a fortune in labour and I'm too stupid to DIY

get a second opinion!!

seriously phone some other places and see if they can give you any info on it.

the guy you spoke to has never done it?? if he has he can give you a price. if he hasn't done it how does he know how hard it is or isn't????

the seat belts not a problem then, is it?? the mount is already provided by the seat.

i would think with seats the biggest problem is the mount onto the floor.......

are there any threads on it???

you know you want them!! just how badly???

sounds cool

Amazing how different answers I got when phoning around.

It seems that the 993 seats attach (to the floor) at 6 points whereas the Carrera 3,2 seats attach at only 4 points. But that won't stop me. It must be possible to drill 2 extra holes or even install the seats with only 4 attachments?

Worse is that the seller won't let me have the electric connection from the 993. So I'm forced to have my mechanic do a little tinkering. So I will have to spend on labour after all.

At least I'm now confident that the 993 seats will fit (dimensions ok). The problem lies in the attachment points and the electric connection....

Oh well, I just came back from the bank. Got myself some swedish currency. I'm going over to the swedish guy tomorrow. Yes I really want these seats.

I fitted C2 seats to my '84 3.2 cab with no problem.

I just left the old floor mounted belt anchors there, they will come out soon though.

You are correct about your car only having 4 mount holes per seat. Take out your passenger seat and measure the mounting rail, and the distance between hole centres (or edges). At least you can contact the guy and check that out. Should only take 45 minutes.

My old seat were manual, I fitted 8-way electric seats no problem. I am sure you can buy the plugs from a dealer or even second hand. Then just wire it up to a new double fuse holder - fitted mine in the boot on the "cardboard bulkhead". Wire them to a spare terminal or straight off the battery - you need to be able to move the seats even if the ignition is off.

Go get them

Ithink it would be an excellent upgrade and probably worth the extra £££'s
