installing 935 spring plates
 

I am in the process of installing 935 spring plates on my 911 and am having interference problems where the threaded barrel on the spring plate rubs on the body. Has anyone had this problem?

Where the bracket bolts to the body, I added three washers to each bolt between the body and the bracket to space it out. That looks to give me enough clearance.

I have not tried to align the wheels yet so it may be that when the alignment is correct, I will not have more clearance and not require the washers.

Where did you get the spring plates? Did you try asking the manufacturer?

Could it be that the threaded barrel is offset and not centered on the spring plate? If so, make sure the majority of the threaded barrel is on the outboard sides of the spring plates. You should not have to add spacer washers to the torsion bar cover/bracket of which the rod end of the spring plate mounts. Show us pictures.

Thanks, it looks like I may have the plate too far extended, in other words not enough toe in. This swings the plate too far into the body.

I have 935 spring plates mounted on my 930. Don't think it's a toe proplem. Regardless of the manufacturer, threads are not centered, but more outside the plate. Is it possiblbe you interchanged left and right then...?

The offset of the rod end tube should be facing outboard. I can see how you'd have clearance problems if it's facing inboard. That's why the tube is not centered in the plate- to provide ample clearance from the chassis

I did have them on the correct side and was aware of the barrel offset.
