Can I save these seats?

Hi friends,

I am about to order some leatherique products but I wanted to check with you first. Do you think that they can still be saved? They are very very dry

They are from my 84 Targa in grey-beige.

Yes they can be saved. Just depends on your tolerance for imperfection. Redyeing products will not save the missing stitching.

Check out some of the before an after pics in this link.

Leather seat repair for car: automotive leather repair

You can come pretty close if you follow the directions AND do some searches on how to prep before you dye. You will be amazed at how they perk back up with a good conditioner alone.

FYI - You should have kept this thread as a post in your earlier thread regarding the seats.

Thanks Bob, I will give it a try then!

Do you know if correcting the missing stitching is something that can be done as a DIY?

I tried re-stitching my leather steering wheel and I could not handle the job as the curved needles and lack of experience beat me to death. You may find the same frustration.

If you call local upholstery shops they will give you an idea if this can be done. You may find someone willing to repair that stitching section for $50 vs. you struggling to do it yourself.

To answer your question directly, I don't know but I am interested in what you find as I have some ripped stitching as well - just not on the short term radar.
