engine drop

hey all. i want to drop the engine out of my 73 911e targa. it leaks some oil. i ordered a new gasket kit. i have never dropped an engine before. is it best to drop the tranny and engine together or just the engine?? i think i can do it. i can ussually figure things out. all input would be helpful. thanks tony

For a first time drop I would recommend dropping them together. Will give you a chance to change the transmission fluid while you have them out. Get Wayne's 101 projects for your 911 and check out this tech article: Pelican Technical Article: 911 Engine Removal Made Easy The car used in the tech article is a 911 SC, so just ignore the steps that don't pertain to your car.

Another good idea is to update your profile with a location.
That way if some sucker.... uhhh, I mean Pelican, wants to help they can see they are nearby.

benzboy,

PM me with your schedule and let's set a weekend to do it. Pizza and soda will good. No Alcoholic beverage please. Or if you have a trailer, you could use my lift at home.

Tony
