![]() ![]() I have a very nice condition 66-67 911 Oil Tank that I have cleaned up to bare copper clad condition. The one thing I need to make it right is the expanded metal screen to protect it from stones & debris off the tire. Anyone know where I can buy this? I assume the screen is Metric in dimension. Any help would be appreciated. Have a great Porsche day! Len ![]() |

You could make it yourself with similar screening they sell at Lowes or Home Depot. I did it for my '73.5.

Len,
I agree, this is going to be a challenge. What is the goal? Looking close or absolute (concourse) original. First, measure the period screen. What are the necessary dimensions? The thickness of the material. The width of material between ‘cuts’. The length of the ‘cut’. The ‘expansion’ of the cut material (max distance between cuts). Overall dimensions. Attachment technique. Clearly, search German (ISO) sources. It may be there was a DIN standard ‘expanded sheet metal’ that transfers to ISO standard. Another possibility is that expanded metal was used elsewhere, where there is a large preserved (un-rusted) panel. Behind the grill of a period MB, BMW or other? Don’t neglect industrial sources. This is a worthwhile quest. Good luck. Best, Grady
