Cleaning the whale tail

I want to clean up the whale tail on my SC and bacuase of it's prominance, I don't want to use the wrong product. I have some Mother's back to black and some Gratiott's bumper and trim reconditioner. Has anybody tried these on the whale tail clean up or can suggest other products and experience?

I keep pushing the Mr Clean erasers. It won't make your rubber real black like the liquid products but it will get wax, etc off real well before you apply.

I have tried the Griot's product. Works good but you have to be careful to apply evenly and it dries quickly. If you are not careful it will leave a shiny edge where two strokes have overlapped leaving too much dye.

I use Mothers back to black. The first application soaked in quite abit and I put on a second time a few hours later. I redo it each time I wash the car. Depending on time on road and in the sun probably reapply once a month or so. I also used on the black trim on my old BMW. Be sure not to get on paint and let dry. Makes it hard to clean off.

Same as protex1. Mothers Back to Black works great on all the exterior trim. Even on my DD Jeep, it keep the fender flares very black.

I tend to use most of the Mothers product line and have been pleased with the results.

I've been using the 1Z Tiefenpfleger - Vinyl/Rubber Care. I found it to be absorbed into the rubber very well, and it really was non-streaky and non-greasy as they claim.

Make sure the rubber is clean first. I use On Grand ERV. Restores color, protects, has a nice satin look that doesn't get really shiny. Apply several coats until the rubber stops absorbing and then gently buff off the remaining for an even look.

I know a guy here in Naples, FL who has a mobile detail business and he swears by "Black Wow". I haven't pulled the trigger yet for the rather pricey stuff but I know he does a lot of very high end cars and has used it for quit some time. Check out autogeek.net.

I've used 303 Aerospace Protectant for years and it works well and it has UV protections. It's not glossy. I purchase this at my local ACE Hardware store. It is a bit pricey though

Check the 303 website...
