911s in movies

I just watched `Along came a spider` with Morgan Freeman. He is a police inspector and drives a 911 coupe, from the eighties I`d say. This is not the first time I see a 911 being driven by police inspectors in movies. I thought it would be fun to list the movies featuring 911. From memory, there was also a James Bond were he was chased by a bunch of black 911s.If you think of other ones, add them to the list ! It is always nice to rent a movie knowing that there will be our favorite car in it, right ?

In that movie (or maybe it's the sequel), he drives both an early car and also a post-73 one, both presented as the same black 911. Continuity? We don't need no stinkin' continuity.

911 heaven

If you get the chance rent 'No Man's Land'.

Horrible plot, even worse acting, set in the '80s with the supporting actors non other than Charlie Sheen and the guy who plays Chevy Chases' brother-in-law in all of the national lampoon's movies.

Movie is entirely based around the stealing of 911's.

Great cars...worth the $1.00 for seven nights.

I had a couple of my 911s in some movies - though I don't exactly know all the titles or saw them. The movie studios rented them from me. My platinum Targa was on the season premier of some show called 'South of Sunset'? or something like that. It was also in that movie called 'Breast Men' with David Schwimmer. My red Cabriolet was rented for a couple of days for a movie made recently with Jennifer Aniston that was supposed to be called Metal Gods, though I think the name was changed - about the heavy metal culture of the 80's. I heard it was a flop. Here's a screenshot of my car in some godfather television series a few years ago. That guy with his hand in his pants is supposed to have a pistol below his belt. A guy gets shot in my car and blood is all over the place. This is supposed to be a scene that takes place in the 80s, but notice how my rims on that car are not circa from that era. Well at least no one noticed or complained. Incredible amount of time and money invested in creating a two minute scene. A full days work with a crew of about 100 people.

Someone on the BBS was in that! He mentioned it in a past Porsche in the movies thread - there's been a few, good to search for them.

I rented "Sexy Beast" a couple of weekends ago. Thought it would be good because Ben Kingsley is in it. Sort of a British gangster movie. The chief bad guy drives a Silver 964. But in a later scene (during the same trip!) it magically turns into a silver 993. Cool. Wish I could do that. Must be a gangster thing. I guess the continuity people weren't talking to the prop department that day.

Try "Viva Knievel" which has Leslie Nielson driving a purple 911 around chasing Evel on his motorcycle and an 18 wheeler. Oh yeah, they are chasing each other in the desert. Nielson eventually drives it over a cliff and blows himself and the 911 up. Great stuff!

Robert Redford is driving a really lovely early 911 T/E/S in "Spy Games" with Brad Pitt. There is probably a whole minute in total

welllllllllllllll,

my name says it all doesn't it? the quintessential 'baby boomer' movie from the early eighties...'the big chill'...william hurt played an ex-stoner (still stoning) from the sixties driving a somewhat rough looking, dark green (a '72 i think) 911 targa. check it out again if you haven't seen it in a while. if you fast-forward thru all the silly dialog and just stop whenever the car appears on screen you can see it all in about 20 minutes.

Hey all,

I can't believe that no one has mentioned the movie "AGAINST ALL ODDS". Just saw it again today....stars Jeff Bridges, James Woods, and some super hot brit names Rachel Ward.

Anyhow, bridges drives, what I think is a Red '83 SC Cab. There is an awesome race scene when the P-car goes head to head with a Ferrari 308. Some serious weaving in traffic moves. The Cab is shown very often in the movie, and is just gorgeous. If you haven't scene the flick, it's worth renting just for the racing scene.

regards,

" "AGAINST ALL ODDS"

well from the TV side of things...

obviously Jerry Seinfeld...I have seen him sneak in a porsche or two in street scenes...no doubt the car he drove to work in...

I have seen him get excellence in his mail...and the myriad of porsche posters on the wall

I saw david scwimmer driving a post 73 or a SC on Friends the other day...I guess the joke was he is a pu*syfoot driver and even his girlfriend was making fun of him...driving a porsche like that

There was a thread a while back about the Smallville (superman) show and clark getting hit by a porsche while and crashing through and off a bridge...

Can't forget Le Mans...greatest porsches EVER...

Along came the spiders prequel...kiss the girls...brief scene...but they did do the engine sound justice

non-911

Wierd Science

I must rent no-man's land...I have heard about it but never watched it...hmmmm

How about Bad Boys, For the Love of the Game, and there is an obsure movie..can't for life of me remember the name in which Dabney Coleman plays a psycologist and drives a black Porsche turbo. Kelley McGillis drives a 356 in Top Gun. There is also a Porsche in The Presidio. Driven by the "You've Got Mail" chick. I also think there is a yellow Porsche....(amazingly self healing) that "Arnie" takes in Commando. James Woods drives a 968 (bubble gum pink) in another movie that escapes me. And of course who could ever forget the "Catch me you can have me" ladies in Gumball Rally. Or the "tricked out" 911 in Bachelor Party with Tom Hanks. Or the one in My Tutor. Or for that matter the one hung from a tree by (I think) Gary Busey in the movie with Annette O'Toole. As you can tell I'm pretty bad at remembering movie titles. Another 48 hours when Eddie Murphy's 356 gets blown up. Enough already!

Anne Archer in Patriot Games/Clear and Present Danger, (one of the two), she is Harrison Ford's wife and drives a Carrera targa.

John,

I thought she was an Aussie too, but IMDB says she was born in the UK. Married to Bryan Brown, who's definitely Austrialian.

Cool

I fell in love with Rachel Ward a long time ago when I first saw her in Sharky's Machine with Burt Reynolds. Just that accent...sort of like Kelly LeBroc. She could say cat puke and it would sound like "My, aren't the roses lovely"!
