1986 911 replacement carpet and mats
Hi Guys....whats the story with a carpet re-do...if you replace the carpet with a good quality market product is that acceptable to most owners or does one HAVE to use that overpriced German original type carpet to be above reproach by fellow 911 drivers. Personally, I keep my car fairly original and don't plan on selling any time soon. Thanks,

All I can say is that I replaced my original cork carpet in the '75 with a black carpet set from a Pelican on the classifieds, he advertised it in "near new" condition, and he could have said "new", as it was that nice (and I'm not saying that because the cork was so bad). At I think I paid around $100 for it including shipping.
Depending upon the condition of yours you could sell it to defray the cost of whatever you decide to replace yours with (new, used, oem, aftermarket, etc). I don't think you'll find much critique from people here. It's your car and if green shag rocks your boat, go for it. Here's a nice thread on redoing an interior:it seems like everyone else has done it, so why not me... (interior) Good luck with your project.
