Kinda cool, I think this is my post number 911.
I searched and saw that airflow through HE is good thing but need to confirm. Any advice is appreciated as always. ![]() Tom

You should be fine leaving the flapper hose off. I don't think you need to put screen over the opening but it won;t hurt. I'm thinking that some metal window screen with a band clamp would work great. Go to a Habitat for Humanity store and buy an old screen instead of a new one to cut up.

I would definitely screen it off just to prevent stuff from crawling in there and cooking.
