Cool ROWSC and i have a SSI question

Kinda cool, I think this is my post number 911.
  • I have 78SC ROW, no cats.
  • I have SSI's
  • I have backdated heat (blockoff plates both sides of engine shroud)
  • I do not want heat at track (did my first DE last weekend at Blackhawk and my instructor was rightfully pissed) so I wired my flapper boxes valve "open" (so it dumps heat)
Question: Can I leave the top of my SSI open - meaning is it OK with no hose connected from top of SSI's to flapper box? Should I 'screen' it off?

I searched and saw that airflow through HE is good thing but need to confirm.

Any advice is appreciated as always.

Tom

You should be fine leaving the flapper hose off. I don't think you need to put screen over the opening but it won;t hurt. I'm thinking that some metal window screen with a band clamp would work great. Go to a Habitat for Humanity store and buy an old screen instead of a new one to cut up.

I would definitely screen it off just to prevent stuff from crawling in there and cooking.
