1983 SC dash climate control cables...help please

can someone please help me out with what the p/n's are for the cables that are attached to dash climate (heat/defrost/ac) control unit which has a p/n of 911 613 111 08 oem...?? I cannot find the p/n's for the 5 cables which run fron the backside of the dash unit to the inside of the front trunk air distribution boxes & vents & hoses.....

ALL of my cables are tired & binding & I need to replace them...you ought to see the mess my dash looks like now...radio out...steering column out...under dash pad out...dash top pad out & a recon unit ready to go in...windshield out...new windshield seal & glass ready for install...steering column rebuilt w/ both upper & lower bearings replaced...new steering shaft u-joints as original ones were clunky...new windshield washer pump & hose...new battery as one removed had several dry cells & it now won't take a charge...new windshield wiper arms & pcs...don't ask what this cost...a small fortune is the answer...

To make a long story made short...while replacing steering wheel bearing a schard (not a steel ball bearing) fell into the deep inner workings of the steering rod & got bound up btwn the steering wheel shaft & the inside of the steering column...RESULT...friends wife using the car almost got killed...WTF...yup...a VERY CLOSE CALL...

Anyway, as a result of this, MANY items are being addressed on this car at this time...

The defrost lever never on the dash, would only make it to the mid point when trying to move it to the left & the cruise control does not work...THUS, I need p/n's for new cables, similar to bicycle brake cables, & help on diagnosis on the cruise that does not work but looks to be all there...

Thx Pelican-ites...

Bob

I went to a bike shop and just bought the correct cable lengths. If the inner wire is still in good shape, then you can just buy the sleeving (the bike stuff is really good). I ended up pulling the sleeves off of my old cables, hitting the inner wire with some steel wool and then some Gibbs. Put the new sleeves on and cut to the correct length. It is a bit of a pain getting to the stuff under the dash, but it is as good as new now.

911 572 114 00 is the part number for the two cables in the trunk. The other three, from the controls inside to the trunk, only come attached to the controls assembly, as far as I know.

Thx JR.... I hoping that was not going to be the answer as I mostly need the cables attached to the dash control unit & new is mega bucks or NLA...I cannot remember...If NLA, I guess I can find a used one somewhere...

I'll post a few pics of the car tonite as it sits all torn apart...I hope I can remember how it goes back together... :-)

I hope all is well with you JR these days...

I'm good. You should be able to find a used set of controls pretty easily. They aren't worth much and the cables last a long time, unless they rust. Run an ad in the used part forum and see what pops up.

ACE Hardware also has the nickle plated steel rigid cables. I replaced my flapper cables, worked like a charm
