Installing front bumper rub strip 74-89

This is the rubber bumper strip between the turn signals.

My SC, the strip cracked and the rubber split and broke at one end about 8" from the end.

I got a good used one.

I installed it but cannot get it to sit in the groove in the bumper correctly.

It bulges out more than it should. I've tried prying it in, but it wont stay...

Anyone have tips/tricks? Thanks.

Try installing the plastic piece in the rubber and installing as one unit.

I just had mine off while fitting a front towstrap. With mine, the plastic strip on the back appeared to have had 'all' of the clips broken off (intentionally??) - then new clips were added. I've got some pictures here:

DIY tow strap solution

See if it looks like the back of yours...
