+1 Griot customer service

I bought an random orbital machine and buffing/polishing products from Griots several years ago. I use the random orbital several the times on my wife's and my daily drivers when I do a complete detail. However for the past 4-6 months I have been using it quite a bit on the 930 project. I am just in the finishing stages of a window out, fender and door off repaint.

The attachment pad is going bad - so I had to call them to order one. the part came in within a few days along with some other products. So when I went to attach the new pad I noticed that it would not fit - total different hub attachment. No way will this work. Crap!!!! So I called customer service figuring that they sent me the wrong one. As it turns out the orbital machine has been upgraded and the attachment pads for my machine are not made anymore. So I told the customer service guy that I was probably out of luck and thanks for his help. He said, hold on you don't have to be concerned with this. He sent me a return authorization for my old orbital and as soon as I box my machine and ship it to them (on their dime), they will send me a new one at no charge.

What??? Also I can keep the $20.00 attachment pad that I just ordered also at no cost. WTF? Who does this anymore.

Bottom line I get a new machine even though I have totally used, dropped and abused my machine that I have had since 2008.

I recommend Griots full thumbs up plus. Along with Pelican Parts, (and my company - if I can toot my own horn) there are not many firms that really give good customer service.

Thanks everyone - just thought I would pass on my recent experience. Usually all you hear is about the bad.

Griots isn't the cheapest - so it's nice to see that they actually believe in customer service. That is a rarity anymore unfortunately.

Thanks for sharing a positive customer service story.

I've been a steady customer of Griots for over 15 years now and I've always been very happy with their products. I know there are many options out there but I've always liked Griots.

Your story of their excellent customer service just affirms that for me.

Thanks, Paul

Their catalog is certainly glossy.

If you want to get technical, some think it's this unit:
ZheJiang Mosay Electrical Appliance Co,.Ltd

While YMMV, I believe Meguiar recommends a rotational speed of <3000 rpm for their products and a foam bonnet. The Griot machine might be better for applying wax or sealant. The rotational speed is 4000-7000rpm, about the same as random orbital sanders like a Dewalt DW443. Careful. At that speed, if not careful, paint burn-through is a possibility, especially with cutting compounds.

"What??? Also I can keep the $20.00 attachment pad that I just ordered also at no cost. WTF? Who does this anymore."

Their return processing cost probably exceeds their cost for the supplied pad.

Sherwood
