911 sc seats question

these seats are on ebay, will they fit do you think? will they be too stiff? should I go with the re-upholster kits instead?

for my '79 sc

You willneed to purchase sliders for your car or make them. Most likely the standard sliders won't fit.

I don't mind the look and the price is nice but "you get what you pay for".

Have you looked at used seats on Pelican and even Rennlist?

I have these in my 82 sc

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-New-Real-Leather-S53-Black-MRC-Racing-Seats*

item #130121686653

They are good seats not great, not bad, but good. I used the original porsche sliders and just drilled the back 2 new holes in the top plates. Easy install. The leather is lower quality but they were better than what was in it.

Didn't you sit too high in those? I have the same seats but from Kragen, pretty nice, a little bigger than the SC seats that were in mine and a little taller in the butt area so I had to make new brackets out of alum angle pieces. Still a tight fit at the side bolsters meet the frame because I dropped the seat down 2 inches. I am now grinding off the left over mounts on the trans hump so I have enough width and all will be good. I got my seats for 250 a pair. They are comfortable and supportive.

If there is another option for an early body (72) that would be a direct replacement with mounts and not be too tall what would that be, I haven't found one.

They sit slightly lower than the stock seats that were in the car. They come with spacers for the tracks that will bring them back to the exact height of the stockers. Other than a different back feel, by using the porsche sliders it was a great fit.

hmmm. this is good info. I seem to sit too low in my 911. I'd like to sit up higher a bit more. I'm 6foot tall. I wonder if there is a seat lowering kit th eprevious owner did or something? I'll check out som eother sites too but I think they look good in that SC Targa

WHAT BABY SEAT ARE YOU USING BACK THERE BY THE WAY?

I don't think the seats shown on the targa are the same as yours and mine and I can't see the bottomto verify the mount. I wish I had that problem with the seat being too low, however I did do a workaround. The problem when dropping the seats between the hump and door sil is the bolster starts to get real close on both sides.

Good luck with your search, I do like the way the seat feel when I sit in them but haven't driven yet.

S53 Black MRC Racing Seats +sliders

I was looking for seats and thought of getting the K5000 for my 911 sc/Ruf conversion. I am doing the front and rear ruf bumpers with 993 aero mirrows. I just purschased the S53 MRC Racing seats for about $450 to include shipping. I can post later a review. They do look pretty nice.

I posted a similar thread asking about the fit of 2004 996 seats for my 75 Carrera. Do those MRC seats come with mounting brackets (adjustable of course)? If the seats I'm looking at aren't going to work I need to look elsewhere. Thanks for anything. Aftermarket seats are a very personal choice. Remember asses go in every seat! LOL

you really might want to consider trying some seats out before just buying a set off the net. everyones body type is different as well as their likes and dislikes about seats. personally i like to sit a little lower and my body type is a medium frame and like my seats to kinda hug me in the kidney and hip bolsters. to me there is nothing worse than sliding side to side in my seat in a DE or just hunting twisties on the weekends.
