Engine Grille grubby!
My 77 engine grille is looking tired, it's frosted black Grey color. Whats the best way to spruce them up? Painting?
Also the car as I brought it did not have an engine size badge, was the badge standard fit? Cheers James in Oz |

I painted mine on my cabriolet with Rustoleum satin black (scroll down here to post No. 8 for a pic). The trick is to get the grille absolutlely clean first. Then scuff it with a fine pad, clean everything again, and shoot the paint (spray the T-bolt heads, too). I did a couple of light coats to ensure even coverage. I also painted my wiper arms, too, which were rusty out at the tips and tired-looking overall.

Mine is getting at that stage too.
When I wax/detail the car I put a generous coat of 303 Aerospace Protectant on the grille, and accordion bumper parts, targa top and other rubber trim. 303 Products, Inc.: 303 Aerospace Protectant This treatment lasts for about 3-weeks and then starts to wear off. It does not run like Armor-All, and lasts 3 or 4 car washings. I used to put 303 on my black targa bar, but caved in last year and finally painted it. Looks much better now, my wife said it looks like a different car.
