headlight washers

Washers do not work Cleaned nozzles. Do not work. Pump works. Used compressed air. No work! I think I read that the reservoir is the same as the windshield washers. Is that right? I topped it off. They work fine. Nick

Hey Nick, Yes, same reservoir.

Are you getting power to the nozzles? I think you have to have the wiper on to make them work, strange I now. Kind of makes sense it is part of the wiper fluid system.

Get ready for a big mess

On my 82' SC (& previous ones) the headlights had to be on in order for the high pressure headlight washer pump to be activated, & yes the resevoir is being shared by both the windshield washer & headlight washer pumps.

Okay, just checked my PAG Owner's Manual. Washer only works when headlights are turned on.

You need to disconnect the output on the intensive pump( headlight washer pump). To see if it is pumping water out first. Just because it is making noise, does not mean it works. The big hose is probably very brittle and will break trying to remove. It.

If you have them-try removing the check valves out of the lines. They are located just before the nozzles in later cars. They stop up when you apply compressed air to the nozzles-ask me how I know!

Well, I tried everything and could not get the headlight nozzles to work. Engine on, lights on, cleaned everything. But today I got ready for a ride, took off down the road, turned on the lights and pushed the button. It sprayed a ton of water all over the lights and hood and whole car!!!! So, if any of you folks have the same problem, try driving the car and turning them on. Washers fixed!!!!! What a mess! Nick

Thumbs up

Well...that's kinda good news , and you CAN slightly aim the nozzles. Just be careful, the plastic nozzles could be britle and/or stuck. I never could figure where to get/make the aimimg tool I once saw in owner's manual, anyway it's possible to re-adjust to, well keep your loghts clean (as for the rest of the car/area, depends on how well you can aim them). Good luck!

I used a pin tool to aim mine. Just be gentle about it. I helped it along on the opposite side to relieve pressure on the internal nozzle itself.

Here in San Diego I will never use them. I just want stuff to work and I work at it till I fix the problem. That is one of the reasons I bought this car. I drive it and fix it. Next, the clock!!
