So If you change anything on your car do you keep the old parts, just in case you sell and the new owner wants the parts?
Or do you sell them to get more money for new projects, and don't care to keep it original or have the option to go back? I have parts collecting dust but something in me says don't sell them, you may want them someday. On the other hand I could use that cash to buy new parts and update the car. What would you do?

I have several shelves full....I keep thinking I should keep them.
Sometimes I wonder if I am just too lazy to sell them!!!! mg

Unless it is exceptionally rare or in incredibly good shape I'd sell it. Why not turn your collection of old unloved stuff into some nice new HID headlights. And by selling them someone else gets something they want and will make good use of.

I just thought of this myself. I put a 28 row brass cooler on and have been tripping over the trombone in the garage for 2 years. I have 28 year old stock sways in the basement. Why? I have no clue. I need to purge.

Yeah, like the sportseats I left in the shop who put in my aftermarket recaros in 75, and put my through the grill foglights in a box which i left somewhere. My blaupunkt frankfurt and a becker grand prix into the trash as they no longer worked!! ETC.
Now I save everything.

Everything i did to my 89 Carrera is reversible, meaning all the original parts are stored in boxes which i find will keep the original value of the car should i ever decide to sell it one day...
Not everybody does a nice job modifying/upgrading their car and i've seen some pretty hacked up examples that would probably be worth more money if they were in their original state or at the least still had the original parts available ! Cheers ! Phil

Save it all. It's just not worth it to deal with scammers, people irate over a $7 part I sold them that doesn't meet their expectations, shipping hassles, etc. My wife can deal with all the crap in the garage when I'm dead

It's always good to keep parts so that the P-car can be put back to an original state.
That's my opinion anyway. Alright how many Porsche parts hoarders are there on this board? Anyone enough to do an episode on A&E.

I am my 911's PO
|
I keep the old parts and write the VIN# on them with a paint marker so my heirs and the next owner will know which are original.
There'll probably be a reality show some day "Overhaulin' - Deceased Wacko Edition".

Had a similar thought, but when I bought my car, I was very happy that the PO provided me with the original airbox and steering wheel. So now I'll keep those, and perhaps add a few things to the list, and in the unlikely event that I sell the car, I can tell buyers that all parts are included to take it back to stock.
