Angry A bunch of watered down purists you are...

If porsche freaks like us won't at least PRETEND to like cayenne even a little bit then who will? I TOTALLY disagree with jack. POrsche is no greedy company which is selling out as Jack says they are. Porsche would not be doing this if they didnt have to, plain and simple. A car company no matter if its Porsche or freakin daewoo is still a business, and if a business sees its sales falling and are looking to tap a huge allready existing markets for some money than that is fine. There is nothing wrong with that. Clearly there is no reason to think that POrsche is steering drastically in the wrong direction beacuse I just so happens that they are tapping the suv market with a vechile which is practically neck and neck with a C5 corvette all the way up to its top speed. Come on, promote cayenne, becuase if we purists don't, then who the heck will. If cayenne is sucessful we will all get waht we want, more 911 upgrades and the return of some sort of gt car like the 928 which just so happens will use the same engine as the cayenne which you all hate. Porsche is killing to birds with one stone.

The way i see it, POrsche is the only high performance sports car company out there with enough balls to make a move like this, you have to respect it from that perspective.

So basically what i am trying to say is if you have a friends with some dough who is looking to buy an suv, don't tell them how much cayenne sucks. Funny how POrsche allready almost went bankrupt on a risky four wheel drive (959 project) a little more then a decade ago, the only thing that saved the company was the high sales of the 944 series which some of you consider the scrap metal of Porsche. Cayenne, like the 959 project cost Porsche alot of money. Not only in development but in all the the advirtising that they have to do because no one (not even some of you guys) has enough faith in POrsche and their credibility as an SUV maker.

NEWSFLASH: Porsche does not need to build a SUV. It is in the midst of its most profitable period in company history.

Also, the "959 project" did not almost bankrupt the company "a decade ago." The 959 was a technology exercise that was never meant to sell to the general public.

There are so many factual errors and suppositions in your post, its hard to know where even to start. Are you just makin' that stuff up??

With all the errors (factual, spelling, etc.) in your post, it's hard to give it much credibility or take it seriously . . .

Eleven posts in and your already at this argument? Better things?

Sorry, everybody has an arse-hole, you included.

Time will tell if the Paprika is successful or not.

For its intended purpose (still deciphering that one), I'll stick with the 944 for the crappy days and the bike for the nice(er) ones.

Sheesh JimT. . you had to go and ruin it for me didn't ya.
For a brief moment there I was shown the bliss of cyan-acceptance. I had clarity of body and soul just knowing a 110lb soccer-mom could spank a vett while talking on the cell phone and cleaning up her dew. . While, simultaniously saving a sports car company!
But alas, that is but a memory now. . .

heh heh
Thanks Jim

aside:
So here we have another thread that you know, on the first post, is going to be (should be) moved to the OT Ranting (aka "Halll of Shame).
I understood high emotions a while back, but *whats* with the recent rash?

aside 2:
marc, my fingers are crossed for ya.

Can we get this threak deleted? I'm sick and tired of hearing people complain about the Cayanne. This is a 911 Technical forum, not a b*tch about the Cayanne forum.

FWIW, I like the Cayenne. I would love to have one in my garage next my early 911 - if my garage was big enough for two vehicles!

I would go for the turbo model in silver with black or that classic red leather interior.

Of course, I am the silly fellow who thinks the Segway is cool and finds eBay to be a wonderful marketplace for buyers and sellers alike . . . and I am a member of the "Mac" cult. I guess being a Republican heterosexual male does not further my cause . . .

Best to all,

Kurt

Well actually Lamborghini has had a 4x4 model on the market for years. The LM002, remember?

I can't help but wonder. Why "POrsche"? Why not "PorSChe"? I'm sure Leland would prefer the latter.

I'm sorry sc944.
But I'm not being paid by Porsche to promote the Cayenne.
It will doubtless make money, but it seems like every other SUV. Obviously Porsche is in business to make money, but a serious business not only looks to this year but also into the long term. I feel the Cayenne is the wrong package for Porsche and that the problem started with the remit given to the initial project team.
I have no doubts about Porsche's long term future. I do have serious doubts about Porsche as a manufacturer of proper sportscars.

Rubbish. I love the 944, always have, always will - enough so that I will own one in the near future.

The Cayenne? It is probably the best SUV out there if I had to have one. But owning an SUV is like stuffing a sock down your pants...

is anyone else getting the marketing packages sent to them? i got a box with the brochures and story etc. and yesterday i got a postcard asking how likely i am to purchase a suv in the near future.

also, they want to send me a video on the development, etc.

if any of you are interested this postcard says to call 1-800-PORSCHE.

maybe that stuff would be collectible in 20 years.

I'm glad to hear he's still in high school. Hopefully he still has a few English, grammar, and business classes left before graduation.

Enthusiasts are generally rabid fans of a brand, but they also will use at least somewhat of a critical eye when judging new offerings. I am a diehard Mac person, but I am willing to admit that occasionallly Steve screws up (killing the Newton) or misjudges the market (the Cube).

Cult members willingly swallow any tripe offered up by the leadership.

There are enthusiasts that like the Hosenpfeffer. That is fine. But don't take people to task for actually using their brain and offering a critical opinion of a new product.

And peel those stoopid stickers off your car...
