Euro CIS vs US CIS

what are the different parts???

I am trying to maximize my car while staying smoggable...

I know the fuel distributor and the intake runners are different...I think the warm up regulator too...

what other parts would I need to change...

I have lots of leads on parts...but not many (affordable) entire sets...

Thanks

MJ

The 82 US CIS was K-lambda and had the O2 sensor, frequency valve, and computer. The 82 ROW was still K-basic. It didn't run closed loop, so it didn't have all of that stuff. It used a different WUR, with two vacuum lines instead of one, and it also had a vacuum thermovalve.

The ROW CIS from 78-83 was much like the US 78-79 systems.

Exactly why do you want to go to a ROW system?

I'd like to know all the different parts myself.

My Automotion catolog, from a few years ago, lists the airbox for the Euro '78-'83 as the same as US '78-'79. But different than the US '80-'83. Not sure why, perhaps O2 sensor stuff.

I would like a list of parts that I would have to take off my CIS and parts I would have to obtain...and any mods I need...

I want the early CIS because I now have 3.2L heads so the intake porst are bigger...and the early CIS had the bigger intake runners...so I am trying to maximize flow while staying smog legal (no carbs)

if I can just swap the FD and the intake runners taht sounds like the easiest way...but I am wondering if there are other parts...

I guess the other way is to buy a 3.2L motronic harness...but that seems more expensive...and it is a hassle to install and I have to chip it...etc....

so I was going to stick with CIS...and try to maximize airflow

I don't think you can be smog legal with a Euro CIS system in CA. No EGR, no O2 sensor.

Maybe you can just use early or ROW intake runners and keep your FD.

well I know people pass with SSI and their O2 sensor unplugged so I guess it is not that much of a priority for me...they just tune it lean for the test...

O2 sensor is listed as equipment for your car, so Goober at Smog-Pro should look for it, and it should fail the visual.

Now if Goober ain't bright enough to notice the cable isn't plugged into anything......

I just happen to have a complete working Euro CIS sytem that was removed from my 80SC this week to install my EFI conversion stuff...

I would part with it (whole shabang) for the right price...

I assumed that when you said "smog legal", you meant smog legal.

MJ,
You'll need the '78-80 airbox to go with your '78-80 intake runners in order to keep the diameter constant.
