Fuel Distributor Question
I have had some running problems since getting this car - namely a heavy juddering at 2100 revs under light load - I have posted re: this before but no result - though lots of suggestions. I spoke to someone about this and the suggestion is the fuel distributor.
Is this likely.. Also, this is a euro car and there is a bosch connector on the back of the housing that the dist. sits on - it is attached to nothing. Is it for an oxygen sensor on a US model? - Could it have weird symptoms if this is not connected to anything? Any Ideas Folks... I don't want to get a new one for nothing an the injection place near me wants £100 to find out...

The connector at the back of the air box is for the air-flow sensor. It is part of a safety circuit that shuts off power to the fuel pump if the engine stalls. Having it disconnected won't effect how your engine runs, unless the other end of the cable shorts out on something.
I'm not sure about your symptoms being tied to the FD. Seems like a lot of mechancs like to blame mysterious problems on the FD. It's an expensive piece to swap out on a hunch. But I'm sure you know that.

I am not sure if my car was juttering, but above 4000 under load my car felt like it was missing. After replacing many things in the fuel system and ignition system myself, I took it to a very good Porsche mechanic who replaced the warm up regulator and it runs great now. He said the wur can cause different problems in different cars when it goes bad.

I feel your pain!!
By all means check to see if the fuel tank is rusting. When you change the fuel filter, if alot of that very fine black sediment breaks through in appreciable order, then the injectors may be a mess or the hairline thin orifices of the fuel distirbutor get blocked. Every mechanic who ever worked on early 911's declared that, "clean fuel is the rule" for CIS systems. Just for kicks, I had my injectors tested before replacing them with new ones and was amazed when they put them on the Bosch machine. Rust was shooting out during the cleaning and the spray pattern was pathetic to say the least. I decided to get a new tank (repo. for under $400), replaced the injectors and keep spare fuel filters on hand. Clean fuel......the CIS heart throb! Regards Bob 73.5T

I don't know the answer to your problem, except to say that it MUST be Saffs' fault

You're right
At £25000 you'd think it would run....
