Same feedback from here for my 3.2 / 231 HP / 930/20 !
I choose the version to run RON95 fuel on my high compression engine that otherwise requires RON98. At low RPMs the pull is definitely a lot stronger; the usual kick around 4.000 rpm is flattened because it starts pulling already better as of 2.000 / 2.500 now. The difference is said to be very noticable when switching back to the stock chip again for the try of it; I do plan that check now I'm used to the SW set up. I had a round trip from Amsterdam to Frankfurt last Friday; didn't push it to the limits but it was very responsive and smooth driving 125 - 130 mph in Germany ! Still need to fill up the gas to check consumption. But who cares anyway, gas here is USD 9.50 a Gallon only .... I only recently found out from the package that I received the wrong version by mistake; the version for SSI's instead of my standard exhaust configuration. No issue; the right chip is on its way now. SW stated that map is slightly different > 5.000 rpm only. Great and easy communication with him by the way. |
Is there a chip available for an 82SC?

Only 84-89,

So, here is a little MPG info I have seen since 7/20, when I installed the SW chip.
Before the chip install, my best gas mileage was 21.9 with an average of 18.6 After a road trip from the San Jose area to Fresno, up to Yosemite and back home. Plus my other normal day to day driving, I have filled up the tank twice. First tank was at 23.8 and the second tank was 24.9. Not too shabby, plus the power to boot. |
I'm local, and I got extra special hands on treatment. The chip is tuned to MY car. My brother drove the car when I first got it. A few months later he drove it again with the SW chip and nothing else changed and he said "Whoa, did you tune this thing up or what?"

Fuel consumption with "consistently spirited back road driving" has been 23 mpg over the last three tanks. I would likely see more than that with some steady throttle travelling, but I'm too into the rush and roar to drive like that.
This is up 2-3 mpg from the numbers before the chip. It is incredible to me that the car manages to be this economical, and with the 20 gallon tank it gives enormous range between fill ups. |
Thanks all, that's great feedback! Looks as if there's an average 2-3 mpg improvement. So assuming a car with 5000 mi/yr use, 20 mpg at $5/gal, = $1250/yr fuel cost, that would be a 10-15% efficiency improvement, or annual fuel savings of $125-$188. :):)

Hi, Steve. I am newbie. I purchased my '86 Porsche 911 a few months along with a Fabspeed Catbypass. Anyway, I have been reading all the positive posts and just purchased the chip. I am looking forward to the all improvements. Thx.
