SW Chip in. WOW! Thanks Steve

My SW Chip came in the mail today. Impatient me, I couldn't wait and in it went. No problems at all. Took me more time to verify my pin count before I placed my order. Took it out in the back hill roads and had a blast. What a difference.

Thanks Steve.

I've heard 87-89 carrera's do not benefit very much from a custom chip? What difference does the SW chip make?

Well, I felt no hesitating. It felt smooth going through all the gears. It moved up the MPH much faster then it did before. Granted, I only put about 30 miles on it. I did feel a improvement.

Mine was very sluggish just off idle. With the SW chip it was very responsive. Much snappier.

Increased pull an HP throughout the powerband, particularly in the lower rpms. No need to step on throttle as hard to accelerate from a stop.

When I fitted my SW chip and the cat by pass...I picked up an average of 3-4 mpg..mixed driving, commute over twenty miles each way. (used to get 17mpg..now I get 20-21mpg)

I have not yet done a road trip for a good highway MPG number.

Engine performance is fantastic.

SW just has a better map in the chip.

Wait until you hit the rev limiter at 6800 rpm with your chip ...
Our SW cars pull like crazy from 5000 on !

Makes all those "water coolers" in my PCA run group wonder why i'm still up their asses in the straightaways on the track

Enjoy your "new" car !

Cheers !

Euro

I'm running a 3.2 euro version (more hp) with cat bypass. Will the sw chip make a noticeable difference?

I had a similar experience and have been meaning to send a "thank-you" to Steve. My 87 is MUCH improved, especially at part throttle, driving around town, it is a much nicer car to drive.

Can't say I've noticed much difference at full throttle, but that's not really what this mod is about, anyway.

So THANKS STEVE!!!

Rolls 912,
I have an 85 ROW (it was a German market car) 3.2 with pre-muffler. I found my car pulls harder with the SW chip, and am very pleased with it.

I put one in a few months back and love it. It was definitely worth it.

Count me in as a fan club member too. Installed mine 3 weeks ago, and noticed considerable increase in power from ab out 3300 rpm and up. I'll have to pay more attention to the tach, because it still pulls hard up to 6600 rpm (the highest I've dared to take it yet).

MUCH better mid-range, especially with my Fabspeed euro premuffler in place of the cat and a Dansk 1-in-2-out (84mm pipes).

I mention the exhaust set-up because while it may have added hp near redline, I think I gave away some mid-range hp & torque to get the extra high-rpm ponies. With Steve's chip, I feel that I got the mid-range back and then some.

Around here, one can still get 93 octane fuel, so I have the 93 octane SW chip.
