Mystery wires on center tunnel

I removed the carpet on my center tunnel yesterday and found two yellow wires exiting the center tunnel in front of the shift coupler cover. The two wires are connected to two (black and grey) very non-factory looking wires that run on top off the tunnel and then up under the dashboard. Does anyone know what these yellow wires are? I cannot find them on my wiring diagram.

Those look like the wires to the heater blower motor, and someone has maybe extended them to put a manual switch in the dash?

Those are the heater blower switch wires. They normally attach to a switch located at the base of the heater levers, but that switch is missing in your pic. Either they could have relocated the switch to the dash or they are tapping the switched 12v for some other nefarious purpose.

Is the heater blower still in the back or has the heat been backdated (removed)?

You need to follow the new wires and figure out what they are connected to.

Thanks! The heater blower was in the back when I bought the car, but never worked. As a part of the engine rebuild I have now backdated the exhaust and heating system.

I'll just remove the home-made wires and insulate the yellow wires then.

That might be because the switch was somehow relocated and you could not turn it on. Did you trace the wires as they went up under the dash?

Yeap on my 3.2, the extended wires are mods. The yellow wire controls the engine bay heater blower inconjunction with the foot blowers controlled by the speed selector on the console.

Do you have a little "sensor" thingy hanging down by your rearview mirror? That gray/black wire is the auto climate sensor connection on my car.

From the picture your manual levers are missing the contact switch for the rear blower wires, the yellow wires in the picture. The contact switch is on a plate between the friction discs that hold the levers in position.

It appears like your system was backdated to manual levers like mine, but they left the blower switch out. And the gray/black to the temp sensors is lust left there. The part I don't get though is that if this was a backdate there are two other plugs that come from the front that are not there for the auto heat console.
