WHOO HOO! Long time comin'
I'm finally home.
First, I want to say that our flight plans got totally screwed up from the get go. We stopped in Cairo, Cyprus, Frankfurt, Ireland, and Ganders, Newfoundland. Our plane broke at Ganders... I mean bigtime. Like the rear elevator control system went out... pilot got allot of vibration in the controls...yeah...I reaaaally love flying. So because of this we were delayed over 24 hours in frigin' Gander-middle-o-nowhere over night (not even fixable...sent in another L-1011). To make a very long story short, the delay put us in Atlanta just in time to catch our connection to Phoenix at 4pm. And we were only in Phoenix for 45 minutes so it was a no go there as well. Man, I am definately out of the loop... airport security is crazy now.... Well anyway, I'm glad to be home... The Porsche is still tucked away under her car cover. Today I'm going to remove the battery and take it to work and let it charge. What else do you guys recomend I do to get it to start??? Oh, and most importantly of all thank you all so much who have been so great to me in the last six months. I really hope I can repay you some day. For all of this countries faults... there's still nowhere I'd rather live. Oh, almost forgot. At the Gander Airport, there was a SCWDP sticker on the wall of this little coffee bar!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about exciting! None of the guys I was with could believe their eyes!!! I have a picture... just have to get the film developed. Who was it...fess up.... Damn it's good to be home... :) |
Welcome Home Leland !! Thank You For a job well done.

And thanks again.... My friends find the sticker quite hilarious/awesome... That must have been freaky to see it...I know when I run into one and see DZ's and mine and Bob's handiwork I will have a huge phat smile on my face...hahaha Good to have to back safe and sound... Now get that engine DIY article cracking so I can use it for my rebuild... MJ |
Leland,
Sincerely, I'm so glad you're home! I can honestly say this now that you're back....This week I was a bit nervous that your plans would be changed, given all the re-newed fighting and bombing now going on. Thankfully, you made it home. I *did* send SCWDP stickers to someone in NFLD. I"d have to go through hundreds of names to find that person, but I *know* I sent some there. Seeing a SCWDP sticker way out there is so very cool! If only you could have taken a picture for us. Now to the business at hand.... When you get into your e-mail box at home, you should see several "updates" for the Rainforest Round-Up. IGNORE any of the ones about lodging. Yours has already been booked and confirmed; done! BTW, *you* are the Round-Up's official "Guest of Honor". There are many folks coming *just* to meet you! Even Matt from N-Cal, has booked time off to come North. So, stay tuned. I'm working hard on getting the event up to full speed. And you? Just get that Targa on the road and show it a map of British Columbia!! :) :) :) |
Welcome Home, Leland!
Glad you're back safe and well! :) |
Glad to hear U are back Safely.....
Thank You I would disconnect the Fuel/and Fire and turn it over for about 15 seconds X 4 or 5.... Then fire it up.... Enjoy the ride Good luck BTW I am starting to put my motor back together today.... Must be an Omen of some kind..... Hope its a good one. |
Welcome back, Lee!!!
Warm it up fully before driving ... maybe the leak has cured itself! |
There is nothing to repay. You've already done more than anyone could wish for.
Congrats on being home. Cheers Mark |
Welcome back. Its been a long time coming. Uncover the car, start her up and go for a long cool drive.

Welcome Home Leland!

...it's funny with all those old L1011's still flying...last one was manufactured 73'. Pretty cool birds.
I flew over the pond with one of those a year ago...felt really "vintage"... but mech guys swear they are tough as nails as long as they are serviced ... |
HOORAH! I mean, YIPPEE! Oh Lee, despite the flight screw ups, you're BACK, man! That's really great news. Add me to those wishing to thank you for a job well done. PaulSmileWavy

So glad to wake up and see this thread; Welcome Home and Thank You for your service to this country, (and the world, really). You're due for some good times, fun drives, and other Pelicanhead/ SCWDP related activities. :D :D :D
You have truly made my day! Your parents must be thrilled as well. Welcome Back! |
WELCOME HOME- Now get off this board and get to work on your car, you only have a few months and 101 things to do.
One question, what did you do first. Run to a computer to let us know, or run to your bosses house to see your stash????? Glad your home safe. Shawn |
Glad you're back home and playing with the SC again!
I didn't realize six months had passed since your deployment; I'm sure the time went by more slowly for you than for any of us. Thanks for your commitment to the spirit and reality of the USA, my man. Cheers! C. |
