The hole in question is on the passenger side inside the trunk, side of the fender.

Maybe he glued it in place to make a seat for the original Bilstein Jack. Can not tell from the photo but maybe the foot of the original bilstein Jack could seat neatly in that can. On my car that jack is always a bit loose because it is only attached with one strap. |
