Port Hole in My SC Trunk? Is this Correct??? Mystery, Solved? :)
I pulled the carpet out of my trunk to get some other work done (read rusty battery tray). I noticed the following "port hole" in my trunk but it does not seem right. The item in question is on the passenger side, towards the front of the car under the jack. Does something else go here? A rubber grommet? Something else? Or is this correct?
UPDATE: After verifying that the "mystery item" was not needed. I pulled it off and found no hole or anything else. It was a metal tin type thing (2" x 3") that was siliconed to the car. One of the bizarre things you find in used cars. I have no idea why it was there or what it was for. At least it was not covering some kind of damage or hidden "goody". I guess the rust gremlins lost their door in and out of my trunk. :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1311654938.jpg |
Well, I just check my 3.2 it does not have that port under the Jack holder mount.

Just sheet metal. Even you bolt there does not look OEM. Is that oil near at the bottom?

I would not worry about it, it seems to be sealed well.

Looking for more opinions....

What's on the other side? Are you sure there's a hole or did a PO just stick that on there with a bunch of RTV for some obscure reason?

Cablemechanism to front trunk snapped and PO made an access hole to release the lever, then figured that it might happen again and made an escape hatch?
The headlamp washer pump went tits up and PO was lazy and instead of dissasembling everything in the wheel whell he decided to cut a maintenance hole? Michel |

air hole
That looks like the inlet hole for the front condenser fan that has been blocked off, hard to tell from that photo exactly where it is.
