Chrome window trim on a met gray Carrera ?
I have a mid 80's Meteor gray Carrera. I want to backdate the window trim to the chrome look of the earlier cars.
Has anyone done this on a metallic gray car ? |

I bet that'll look great. Have you talked to any platers?

Thanks
Great inspiration thanks.
My plan has always been to create a kind of simplified classic look for the 3.2. Canford Classics in the UK did what I want (except for the duck). Canford Classics - Classic Porsche Restoration & Parts Refurbishment ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm thinking : Chromed window trim door handles and flag mirrors RSR finish Fuchs Carrera Fatty steering wheel remove KM ring form speedo Swap Carrera seats for the 84 sport seats Stealthy Carrera side graphic |

My black 79SC came with the polished/chrome trim and I am taking back to black trim as I like what I call the "stealth" look better on a black car. Will be taking it off next month in preparation for paint. I will have all the exterior trim, door handles, and 16" Fuch wheels for sale to fund my other projects :=)

It might be cheaper to purchase original chrome plated used. I did for around 350$ and really like the older hinged vent windows. I think its a great look.
Don't forget the mirrors. ![]()

DS PS mirror
Thank you. That's a very nice looking Targa.
When you replaced the bigger mirrors with the small flag style. Did you weld the holes shut ? Also I'm assuming you had to re painted the doors completely to match. I'm trying to budget this job. Cheers |

No, I didn't weld them shut, I just used some strategic positioning and a base gasket to cover the original holes.
Want to replace my sideview mirrors

snbush67, you are my hero! I've been wanting to put mirrors like that on my car since I bought it, but didn't want to have to wait to paint the car to do so. Quick question. Say that in a few years I would get my car painted and fill the holes in my door due to the flag mirrors, would the chrome mirror bases still be intact so that I can just mount them up the way they are intended to be? Thanks again. |

Yes. No changes were made to the mirror bases. Just a couple of small holes drilled in the doors. Please post your results.
