C2 bumpers on 82 SC?

I'm trying to install factory c2 bumpers on my 82SC and it appears the bumper shocks don't line up at all with the SC shocks. I have all oem c2 parts, bumper rebar, shocks, bolts, etc. What have others done for mounting? I was under the impression that they were basically bolt on.

not even close to a bolt on. most people use a aftermarket c2 bumper thats made to fit onto earlier cars, or simply have to fabricate brackets to make the OEM ones fit. You will also have to make some type of brackets in the upper center where the hood closes to hold the center section down.

Well that's really sucks!!! I have a few ideas on how I can get this to work but I'm gonna have to modify the mounts a bit. Might have to weld up a bracket or two. You mention I bracket to hold the hood down?? the bracket for the hood is on the body of the car, and has nothing to do with the bumper? If anyone has any pictures showing how they've fit C2 bumpers to there car that would be great.

The bracket is not for the hood, its a bar that goes across the front pan just in front of the latch, that secures the top lip of the bumper to the body, and also, the 964 fenders have clips underneath the headlight area of the fenders that secures the side of the bumper.

you can see the black bracket/bar and fender clips in this photo..

That bracket I have I just had to trim it a bit, but it fits perfect. I'll have to fab some sort of shock mounts for the rebar but It shouldn't be to bad. I appreciate the help. Anyone have pictures of what they've done to fit the rear bumper? I'm wondering if I could just use the stock bumper shocks and bolt it to the 964 rebar. Is the depth correct or will I need to shorten the shocks for the bumper to line up?

Hi,

Photos attached show my version of mounting the rebar. My SC didn't have any rebars when I bought it so I added them recently. The major difference is that I used Boxster parts as they are easier to get. I used heady angle as the basis for the brackets.

For the front I made a new bracket with cutouts for the fog lights then modified some euro bumper pipes. For the rear I used the stock front bumper shocks with an additional bracket.

Hi,

Further pics of the lower bracket. I fabbed it using galvanised steel lintel as used in brickwork. Its easy to find and very sturdy.

Getting the brackets right needed a lot of trial fits and grinder work.
