1968 911L F Value
I bought this 911 l and I'm trying to decide if i paint it and replace a few parts. Any idea of value on this. 1968 L with a 1972 911E motor, 5 speed, Rust is the battery tray. a little surface rust showing through a few spots. it has the S trim on the interior and exterior, rear sway bar. I dont want to get upside down. Thanks

Well, a 68 L was all 911S except the motor. The L motor was a 2.0 with an airpump on the left chain cover and a long nose to drive it on the cam. For asthetics, you should find an L motor, they are available.

If you want to maximize value, with SWB prices going the way they seem to be going you should look for a 911L motor and work towards authenticity. A recent Excellence buyers guide had SWB values and market prices that might help you.
On the other hand, my 68T is heavily modified, has a 72 2.4MFI engine, and is an absolute _blast_ to drive and enjoy... |

Just fix it up and drive it. The motor you have is much better than the original.

I've got a '68 with a 70E motor in it. Must have been common to swap the 2.0 for a 2.2 engine.
Are your door pockets original? They look a bit different from mine, but I do have a '68 normal instead of a '68L. --Von

The basketweave is interesting, especially on the rear panels.......I thought all 68L's had elephant hide.
My base 68 911 has basketweave on seats and front door panels but smooth on rear area.... |

not sure if the door pockets are original or not. Thy look like they are. the have the same metal trim as the top trim piece does.
