Suitable substitute for front condenser fan
 

while redoing the suspension on my car, I replaced the front A/C condenser. The fan was unplugged (red flag). I plugged it in and F2 started heating up. Don't know if there's a connection or if my running the interior fans caused F2 heating. From what I've read, the front condenser fan may not be fused.

After finishing the suspension, I removed the fan and found that it had seized. Ordered fan, it arrived, and I installed it as follows:

fan sits as orientated, in front trunk, beside battery and behind bumper.

1. remove from car

2. remove old fan and cut off the portion of the plastic housing that held the fan

3. sand the duct flat where the fan had been mounted.

4. get one of these a your local hardware store:

5. drill three holes to accomodate the fan, and sandwich the housing between the fan and the plate:

6. combine the two halves of plastic ducting, and mark the positions of the motor and fan on the motor shaft:

7.reassemble housing halves with old clips:

8. test assy before install: I used 12v battery charger--red lead positive:

• fan should discharge air from widest portion of duct
• fan cage whould not rub on housing

9. when your sure off wiring orientation, rewire plug from old fan to new one, using in-line fuse from host or local auto store. Use 8 amp fuse.

10. Reinstall fan assy using foam tape to seal fan assy intake and output.

Lots of trouble considering the Option.

the front blower/fan is horribly inefficient considering the power draw and the restricted CSA of the front condensor it blows air over.

Use 2 of these to force downward airflow over the rear condensor when the compressor clutch is engaged and you can probably discard the front blower and maybe even the front condensor.

What about engine temps in the 90+ degree ambients in the Carolinas. I would rather have a better front condenser performance and a fender condenser than more heat in the engine bay.

Also what about those without a tail? Does it push the condenser down away from the deck?

In the detail it says it spins at 2350 RPM's. Do you know how this compares to the stock fan?

The stock fan is twice the RPM's. So I would disagree. This is NOT a suitable replacement. You are making a weak area weaker.

There has to be a direct bolt -on replacement that works ??

There is a direct bolt in. Footwell blower motors are direct fit replacement and spin faster.
