Npt plugs obtained at Princess Auto, less than $2 each.

Our host sells the plugs for around $1.85 each but they replace the entire part you show, screwing directly into the cylinder head. Your solution avoids the danger of breaking off the air injector in the head. Clever. I have removed the air pump but I haven't worked up the courage to remove the air lines yet. Using your method I could do it in stages. The air lines are a pain because they block the steam cleaner from degreasing the nether reaches of the engine.

I've heard Ace hardware plumbing caps will work.

Yes, I did see that our host sells the required plugs. I order parts regularly from our host, but I needed to acquire the plugs fast / locally.

I needed to remove the air lines in order to replace the leaky oil return tubes, but it was quite easy; some fasteners were seized so I carefully cut the tubes with a small cutting disc on my Dremel.

That's exactly how I plugged my air injectors. Mine were free as I had them in my "junk" box from a previous project.:D
