Can I use Red Line CV lube on my polycarbonate Weltmeister front c-arm bushings?

I don't have the Weltmesiter lube or whatever they recommend. I have a tub of Red Line CV Grease that I heard is as good, if not better, than what's recommended for the Weltmeister front bushings.

I can't imagine what would be special about lubing plastic bushings. I used plain wheel bearing grease. I don't see how it could harm it, and wheel bearings take a lot more heat than these bushings.

Petroleum based lubes disintegrate plastics and rubber. The combination of some rubbers and plastics with standard greases make them sticky which is bad for bushings, o rings, or whatever. Generally a fully synthetic lube is best for these applications. It's not the heat that's an issue in this case it's the compatibility between the two materials.

Thanks for the reply.

Porsche Crest lube

Synthetic lube on your plastic bushing should work just fine...I just did the same thing last week. I don't know how a petroleum grease will interact with plastic though.

That what I used. However, the benefits of any grease will quickly wear away. You should install a zirk fitting that goes through the control arm and into the bushing. You also have to carve a small grease channel in the inside of the bushing so that the grease spreads to the areas where it is needed. Others and myself have done this. I posted a couple of pics about 6 months ago when I did this. You can try a search on "zirk" fittings.

For what it worth, I amost exclusively use the RedLine CV grease, mostly because it is available around the corner from me. Some swear by it.
