DOT-EPA regulations fall off after 25 years?
I have heard they do, if so, importing a 1984 Canadian (ROW) car into USA should not be a problem?

Depends on your state I think. Many states have a rolling 25 year limit and in some states like PA you're screwed if your car is newer than 1974.

25 years is the cut off for importing a car without meeting the EPA standards.
So, you can legally get it in the country. You may need to modify it to meet your states requirements.... Rich |

you still need to use a licensed importer...I think.
Let me know what you find out...I have my eye on a few 70's cars in Sweden. I would love to not have to use an importer. Rules change at 25 years for the EPA, not sure about NHTSA, they may still require a few mods, but those are cheap bolt on/bolt off things like bumpers and speedo. Rich |

NHTSA drops out at 21 years IIRC...after 25 years, all you have to worry about is your state.

OK, my state DMV says the DOT regulations fall off after 25 years, but they still want a Customs form, so a call to the N Idaho border crossing Customs office got me the news that it would not be easy to do,
I don't remember all the beaurocratic details, too much info from DMV/Customs to process to be honest, mention was made by Customs of needing a broker, but here is the car I was thinking of moving on in case someone wants to jump thru' all the hoops; 1984 Porsche 930 Turbo
