Thanks...so what does it mean that the rubber appears to be squeezing through the stainless shielding? These lines are only four years old.

I'm no brake expert by any means. My guess would be the lines are swelling for some reason? Who makes the lines?
Bill Verburg is the resident brake expert. I imagine he's heard/seen this and he could better analyze the problem.

Joel,
Some great info here, and here's another tip: When you remove your brake lines, gravity will drain a lot of fluid. To prevent this, block the brake pedal down about 2 inches with a piece of wood wedged against the bottom o fthe seat. This closes off the master cylinder and prevents a lot of the drainage. Jims power bleeder notes are great. The power bleeder is a gift from god. No need to pre-flush. Just load your bleeder with the full quart of ATE, and let each caliper run until you see clean blue fluid. You may have to bleed twice. Whacking the caliper with a rubber mallet while bleeding will help dislodge any entraped air bubbles. Have fun with this - its easy, and the improvement will be obvious.
