Got a cooler and two fans

Got two of these spal fans on ebay.
5.2 inch, 12 V Electric Pusher Fan -- Spal #30103013 | eBay
Awesome fans, not loud, small and can be hooked up in sequince with a theromoswitch and switch or two manual switches. Very effective at cooling the temp back down to a little under 210 when on, The cooler that I got from our host helped a great deal but here is vegas it too would begin to heat soak without airflow over it. My temps would stay at about 190 for a while once the cool oil began to flow from the front cooler and then start to warm up to 230 degrees in extreem conditions where there was no movement in traffic, It would cool down some once under way on the highway but I didn't have the surround on it so i'm sure air would move through and around it. My intention was to get fans anyway. Wonderful to not get hot here in vegas 107 heat.

this one from our host.
PEL-TMP-9802
I thought for this price I could get two in case I need it. I doubt I will though.

Which oil cooler?

Do you have a temp switch for the fan?

I don't. I plugged that hole and have the fans on a switch. I think I might do two switches so I don't draw more amps than necessary. My switch isn't on a relay yet but it doesn't get hot. It's warm though. My switch is a cheep one I used just to get it up and running. I plan to complete the install using more OE style switches and relays.

[QUOTE=86 911 Targa;6194226]Which oil cooler?

The one mentioned before. It's a reproduction of the porsche carrera cooler. I've had both and the one from pelican is good. I didn't like the paint on the fins and considered using a paint thinner like acitone to get it off for better heat transfer but didn't and it works but seems a little sloppy in the fins. I imagine that if the paint was removed it would be even better. Install was harder for some reason this time around as my car didn't have the front cooler. I got the porsche bracket and welded it but you can drill and bolt it too. Last time I made the brackets and it seemed easier, cheeper too.

When adding the factory fan to our '86, (Porsche didn't get around to it until late '86 production), I used the factory wire harness (p/n 911 612 805) along with the fuse panel mounted relay.

The temp cycle of the switch is very important.

Our is set for 210F on, 195F off.

Hope this helps.

You may pm me.

Best,

Gerry
