No lube on one rear torsion bar; what now?
I just finished installing the second rear torsion bar. The new bushings are on, the spring plate and torsion bar cover are bolted and torqued down. Suddenly I realize I didn't lube my new Elephant Racing 29mm torsion bar
What's the outlook for this bar if I leave it as is?I already know what I have to do, but I just needed a place to vent. Grrrrr.

Okay I'm probably the least qualified to answer here, but you don want those spline getting fused- on either end- I hear the rule of thumb is never stick it in without any lube or it's gonna hurt- no lube equals ouch!! (Yes, tongue in cheek humor here and I can't believe I'm the first to get to post a smartass remark here!!!)

+1, take them off and lube them. Lube them alot. If you can get high tack spray lube, get it. Do it right so you won't regret it later.

+2 on that one ... That is one part that you don't want to install dry !
You're going to enjoy your car with the new bars ![]() Cheers ! Phil

I got 'er done a few hours later before the liquid soap dried to much on bushings.
The bar came out with the spring plate. I put the bar in the vise and adjusted the spring plate to the correct angle (25 deg). Then I pulled the spring plate off the TB. I marked the spline which was at 12 O'clock high on end of the TB. I lubed it up, put the TB in with the mark at 12 high, put the spring plate on at 25 degrees; it slipped right back in place. Then I just bolted the cover back on, followed by the rest of spring plate nuts/bolts. Wasn't as bad as I dreaded.

Since it's all buttoned up, I would suggest making sure that you're happy with the ride height and everything. I'd even consider waiting 2 weeks while everything settles. Then, if you like the height, you can reset it very accurately when you remove and lube the t-bar. conversely, if you need to adjust the height, you know what to do when you remove the bar.
I don't think that 2 weeks on a unlubed bar will do anything bad. You're just as likely to have to dig in there to adjust things later anyways. Edit: Nevermind! You posted while I was typing.
