I forgot to mention another update/change item I am doing. Yesterday I received a package from our host containing new Euro light lenses for the front and rear . I purchased the one's with the black trim I think they will really help with the retro look I'm going after. I hope to install the ducktail today. Pics to follow.

Cool project, original is always nice. You can't blame anyone for liking or staying factory, but every so often I'll see a neat project where someone had a plan. I actually from the picture prior to customization have to say those wheels have given me an idea or two that have been lurking in my noggen.

Today I installed the ducktail spoiler that I purchased earlier this week. Seems to fit fine so no major surgery needed. Even the latch lined up fine. I'm going to make a custom intake grille just to be different :D. Here's a few pics.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1315689765.jpg

Guys I'm still alive ! :D. Been busy with house/garage stuff. But I found a local painter and the parts are going there next Friday. Pics to follow.
|
Today I picked up the parts from the painter damn they look nice. It was dark when I got home so no pics today. I'll lay them out this weekend and snap some pics. Getting very close :D.

Cant wait to see some pics on the car. Better yet, your headlight ring is ready, so just bring the whole car by next week!
|
Nice project, looking forward to the updates :)

Ok.. those bumpers are WAY COOL. I've been planning on replacing my race SC's bumpers this winter, and I want those (sorry i guess you would not be the only one). Where o where did you get those
|
Read from the first post, they were 1-off custom made by Milt, so unless you commission someone to custom make you some, you won't be finding any!

weekend update
Like many projects I didn't make as much progress as I had hoped. I got the ducktail installed and it looks very nice. On the front bumper I installed the aluminum slats and glued in the black screen behind the grill slats and in the lower valance. Glued new light housing rubber on the front housings and did some tidy up of electrical wires in the rear. Sorry for the low lighting but I just snapped these and did not have the garage door open. The real shots will be when everything is installed :D . But these give you a taste of how they look in color.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319405878.jpg

Damn you Milt!!!! :)
Your car is gonna look fantastic!!! |
Those are some nice pieces! You'll definitely have a "looker" when you're done

Hi guys today I installed the front bumper. All went as planned with no surprises. Lights hooked up with no issues and all is well. I think it looks great ! :D How do you guys like it ? Tomorrow on to the rear bumper. I hope to be done this weekend and I'll post pics of the completed car.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319845312.jpg

I think it looks great. The color on those parts is awesome. I can't wait to see it finished. Milt really did a great job designing and building the parts.
|
As a highly biased early car owner, all I can say is that it looks great. The front doesn't pretend to be an early car, but lends a very custom, refined look, that definitely makes it one of a kind. If Porsche had molded plastic pieces available in the mid-70s through 80s (with an impact absorbing steel bumper underneath) they probably would have followed a similar theme.
I only hope that some one made molds of the front and rear pieces in case of a hard impact. |
Thanks for the comments guys it has taken longer then expected to get this done. But I have tried to be meticulous with the details and I hope it shows. Unfortunately no molds were made so if I wreck her this vision will be lost. But I plan to drive her like Dr. Ferry Porsche would have wanted and let the chips fall where they may.

Hello again today I installed the rear bumper. All went as planned with no surprises. I just have to fab up some brackets for my rear fender mounted AC condensor and the install will basically be done. In the pics you'll notice I don't have the rear turn signal lenses installed. I'm waiting for the glue to dry on the new gaskets. I am really liking how she looks :D. I also installed the engine lid grill, I ended up using the OEM from my SC I just painted it semi-gloss black to clean her up. If the weather stays decent I'll get her outside tomorrow and with a quick wash post some outside pics.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319925284.jpg
