Rennshift questions

Right now I have this shifter installed right out of the box with the long shift lever. My question is to the people who have tried the different throws, shims, etc and what they feel is the best setup before I start fiddling with it?
Thanks

I installed it right out of the box and was very happy with it.

I'm thinking of leaving well enough alone, but here's another question. I installed an RS carpet kit and installed the shifter over the carpet, does anyone think this would be an issue? The car shifts very good, but a 915, for the most part, could always shift better.

How is the bushing in the tunnel in front of the rear seats?

As Joe Bob says, check the tunnel bushing. I went with a stomski in the rear and a new shifter bushing up front. These fixes and a long handle Rennshift and she shifts like butter.

+1. I did the exact thing and have never looked back. I tried to set the throw to 30% reduced but doing so moves the end of the shifter away from the floor by half an inch and it would not seat properly in the cup bushing. I assume there is a trick to this, but I didn't want to mess with it any more and went with the 20% setting that comes out of the box and it feels great.

All new bushings, stomski as well. Car shifts very well, but was thinking that maybe someone had found a sweet spot with the additional shims provided, throw, etc..
Just spent about 20 minutes adjusting the coupler and I think I nailed it just right, forgot how damn sensitive this shifter is. Harder then hell to crank down the wevo clamp without moving the stomski when you are 6-3, and trying to squeeze through the seats with a roll bar.

There are two holes in both the shift stick and the pivot it goes through. Do not change the relationship of the stick and the pivot or the cup bushing will not mate to the linkage cup - as you found.

To change the throw, you need the move the bushings and pivot bolt to the other hole, but both holes stay in alignment vertically.

James,
Any issues with the shifter being installed over the rs carpet?
