Wiring issues

Hi there, I am having some problems with my msd install on my '71 911E. The gray wire from the msd unit right now is connected to the black and purple wire, and the msd tac adapter is hocked up like the instructions indicated but nothing is working the tacks still dead. The wiring diagram says that the black and purple wire runs from the distributer then to the speed switch, then to the tac. But in my car it runs form the speed switch to a transducer then to the tac. So does that change my wiring interface msd unit then? And I am also having problems with my level indicator gauge. The sender is grounded properly, and the gauge works (tested with the fuel level signal wire). Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

Man thanks

on my 77, with points, i connected my tach directly to the grey wire and had no problems.
have you tried that? dont use the tach adapter.
on the 77 and my 930, i connected the MSD back into the original wiring connector that went to the CD. i did connect the wires from the MSD directly to the coil.
