MSD Tach issue after install

I installed my new MSD digital unit 6-AL 6426 yesterday. I used the CD 6-pin plug to connect the various wiring according to previous posters and ran the ground to the ground cable on the electric panel. Hot 12v line to the 3 fuse block on its own dedicated spot.

When I turn the key on to start the car, the tach goes to redline and then as soon as the engine starts, it settles right down and works perfectly. Anyone else have this kind of problem or is that normal?

I wanted to wire it so in an emergency, I could just plug my CD box back in. Car runs strong as before.

Any comments welcome.

Anyone....will it hurt anything for the tach to go to red peg and then back down to idle speed after starting?
