This can't be good

Hi guys - so while the 911 is still new to me and this is my first one and blah blah blah (no making more excused on my part) I just realized that the offset on my rear tires is noticeably different.

That is that the drivers side rear wheel sits flush with the outer rear fender lip but the passenger side rear sits inboard of the fender by exactly one inch.

Same 205/55/16 tires on either side.

Same wheel diameter.

Uh oh...

I once saw a car where the tire shop put both front wheels one one side, and both rears on the other.... Owner didn't notice until we got to the track.....

Stock wheels?
Could it be the last tire shop removed a wheel spacer and forgot to put it back on... (you mentioned an exact 1 inch difference)???

try sitting in the car and have somebody measure then. the weight may sack the suspension down some giving more neg camber. if not an alignment may be required to get the rear camber more consistent from side to side.

Remove both rear wheels to verify they are the same part number... But with a 1" difference, you are likely missing a 25mm spacer. In any stock configuration, a rear wheel will not be flush with the wheel well so you should find a spcer there.

Hi there

It's not uncommon to have a slight difference between left and right.

I had the same 'problem' once on my SC and it improved considerably after corner balance and aligment.

Camber looks the same on both sides to the naked eye.

My passenger side looks like the offset to the fender lip here (nice car BTW);

My driver side is flush.

I'll pull the rear wheels and check the part number and see if there is a spacer(s).

Thanks.

Sometimes you can spot the spacer looking through the Fuch petals.

A good bunch of answers! I would simply remove the Wheel that was the closest to the Fender Edge and see if there is a spacer and remove it! Most Spacers used Nowadays are Bolted to the Hub as opposed to the ones that used longer Studs. I never thought about the fact that Camber when you sit in the car could change enough to cause 1 side to go more Negative and the other side to go more Positive. It is also good that it is the Drivers side where you sit because Someone is always in that Position when the car is being driven.

Correction - the passenger side has more camber than the driver side.

Neither side has a spacer that I can see.

Still need to check the wheel part #.

Please forgive the condition of the car - I'm addressing all of that but want to get her mechanically sorted first.

Passenger side;

Driver side;

pull both wheels, look for them to be the same (lay flat) and look for a missing wheel spacer on the pass side.

A little tough to tell from the angle but doesn't look like a camber angle difference to me (as I see greater 'reveal' of tread on DS @ mid-axle compared to PS).

As I look at tread pattern, 2nd block on DS looks like chevrons pointing up like this:

^^

and on PS is opposite direction, like this:

VV

leads me to believe that your tire on RR belongs on LF? Of course I'm assuming tires are same make . . .

As others have mentioned, I'd pull all four wheels and double-check widths, back-spacing, and spacer/no spacer.

Is it normal for there only to be a spacer on one side?

What year car?
It is totally normal for there to be some difference from one side to the other but to put your mind at ease pull the wheels and check if the wheels are the same size and ET. Also look for spacers. You can roughly check the camber with a small carpenter's level. You should not have a spacer on only one side.
