Hydraulic clutch on 915

I'd like to install a hydraulic slave cylinder on my 1984 915 transmission.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks

Do a search. This topic has come up several times. The last time I recall was . . . . yesterday.

Uhhh??? Why would you want to do that? Seems like a LOT of work for something that works well the way it is. What are you trying to accomplish?

I can't think of a better way to burn lots of money. Oh, just set it on fire when gets cold outside and dance around it.

Thanks, I did do a search earlier but guess I missed the thread from a few days back.. SORRY!!

As for WHY? Well, this transmission is not in a Porsche. The pedal setup I have is already hydraulic, so i think it would be eaiser to put a slave cylinder on the trans than tear up my pedal box for a cable setup.

Ahh, I see. I would try finding an old transmission shop around. You know the type; same old guy there for 30 plus years. He would probally be more than happy to "engineer" something for you for little to no money. Many of these shop owners love the challenge. good luck. Sounds like a fun project.

find a NEAL slave cylinder, commonly used on vw dune buggies. they pull in when pressurized, rather than push out. CNC sells them, among others. you would have to make a bracket for it of course.

I used a CNC on a 901 in a 550 spyder. The trick was the bracket, make sure you get the cylinder that has the proper excursion or you'll be left bottoming out not getting your clutch all the way in! Let me know if I can answer any questions, I'll give it a try.

from the past

I know I'm digging up from the past but these images are still being hosted and this one is better than the first.

I am currently working on the conversion and will have the parts list soon.

For my racecar with moveable dual pedal conversion.

Here's one I am working on.............

....using a simple angle bracket. The slave is a CNC product.

Once I can prove it works properly I will make a stronger part out of Aluminum.

Hey Len,

I'm curious to know how your setup worked out as I'm a couple days away of making something similar.

Thanks
Carl

Sorry Carl, but this project on hold because of limited $$$.

First priority is to sell off some stuff & rescue my 72S Targa from the best body/chassis shop on the East coast.

Then perhaps I can get back to the fun stuff w my engine swap & this Hyd Clutch.

Len
