reflector disassemble

Hi guys,

I have an 82 and a 75 and would like to switch the rear center reflectors. I assume they are the same, right?

Can anyone let me know how I take it off? Are there screws anywhere?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Boris

They are interchangeable but can be a real PIA to remove.

Here are some threads that will give you some ideas.

To my understanding the reflectors changed in with 1978 models to straight plastic studs from threaded metal studs for earlier models. In both cases it seems to be best to remove bumper plus heat shield and unscrew nuts or carefully open up small retaining clips of plastic studs. Any other method risks breaking the studs.

On my 75 the best way was to remove the bumper. Second way to do it would be to pull the muffler, and access from under and behind. The studs on mine were rusty - not too bad - but I was glad to have pulled the bumper which made it easy to both spray 'em down with liquid wrench and remove the nuts later with easy access. There may be a better way. . .
