Found the 87 911

Finally,

With all your help I have found a very nice 87 911. I am planning to take the 5 hour drive to look at it then, trailer it home.

Any tips on hauling it... I am renting one of those U haul car trailers.

I have a pick -up that can handle the task.

Thanks

I can't help with hauling advice, but if I were you, I'd drive down with a buddy (if one is available) and if the car checks out, drive it back. My better half and I took a one way flight from the Great White North to Columbus, OH to pick up ours, and it was a great adventure. Perfect opportunity to get a feel for the car, and to get the know her.

Anyhow, circumstances may preclude that but good luck with the purchase!

Dave

UHaul over builds their trailers and they very are specific on what hitch is used and what can be used as a tow vehicle. While the dollies have a good rep, they can't be backed up......use the flat trailer. One way rentals are cheaper and easier.....UHaul likes to move their stock around. Of course depending on logistics....a round trip might be the way to go.

Unless the ride has suspect issues, I would drive it back. Just take a AAA card and a cell phone with ya. There a few threads on road trip tools if you do a search.

save yourself some $$$ and increase your fun....rent a compact to drive up, then drive the '87 back (unless it has some unmentioned issues). These cars are actually pretty darn reliable.

Ouch! Time for a long cold shower. There are a good number of 87-88 Carreras out there. You may just find a better one than the one that got away.

Sorry, mine is not for sale.
