I am in the process of change the old fuel lines in my 1976 911S. My Question is how hard is it to get the metal lines pressure and return out of the tunnel. What have you all used to replace the lines metal and rubber. Thanks.

I just replaced the large supply line and it was easy enough once you push/pry the rubber seal out from each end. I pulled it out from the front end, curving it into a loop as I removed it. I had attached a wire to it so it was easy to pull a new line in from the rear. I only needed to remove the front carpet to access the pipe and guide it through the front bulkhead. I did remove the rear trans crossmember for easier access. I had to replace the line after putting a thread tap through the line while cleaning out the seat mount threads. I won't make that mistake again. If you shine a light you can see the fuel line at the bottom of the seat mount holes, nasty. Later models are probably different but my 72 has a right angle bend in the tubes as they exit near the fuel tank. I used a brass fitting instead.

I just put 10mm 304 stainless steel hard metal lines in my 1974. Not a fun task - but glad I did when I saw the condition of the nylon lines (and 37 years old) Contact Len Cumming - (BoxsterGT) he has all the connection stuff (Much of it NLA from Porsche)

What kind of lines are you using? Are they OEM replacement? I have been thinking about doing this? I saw something about using Teflon-coated lines because of the higher ethanol content in modern fuel. Haven't found anyone doing this. Just curious.

![]() 76 TN Porsche- What lines do you actually have? Metal, White Nylon, or Black Poly? If you have steel running thru the tunnel you should be OK unless they are rusty. However, the White nylon lines as in a earlier 911 (74-75 & possibly yours) or in all 914s are not. With 30 yrs plus they are hard & brittle & they crack & split with obvious results. If you have the Black Polyamid factory lines thru the tunnel they should be fine, they are very durable. One issue with the black Poly lines is that the factory crimped hoses to them making it difficult to repair if ever needed. The ends cannot be changed if you want to modify your fuel system, as when you are relocating the fuel pump. Many of us are using SS lines thru the tunnel with Metric fittings. This also keeps it compatible with your original components (fuel pump, etc). I can help with making up hose assys w Metric fittings. Most of my stock comes from Cohline, the OE supplier in Germany.
