what part am i looking for....cowl rain drip tray/

ok, so the previous owner left me with a complete mess in the front trunk area.

i have all the parts, that i need to put it back together, labeled and all working and all in GREAT condition, BUT,...since i have removed everything else from the car i am going to create a custom heating system since the car is not driven year round...

this is what i am looking for i think....from a early 911? 912? i just want a fresh air drain

will this just bolt up to my car? 1980 930...or will i have to make a custom piece for what i want.

what i was left with...

It is called a water drip pan. I found it in the 911/912 parts catalog that this website links to.

Click on new parts catalog above and find the 911/912 pdf file in the Porsche link. The part is in that catalog. You could compare it to other parts catalogs to see if it is a simple parts change out.

that early part will not fit your car. The vent shape is completely different.

Smart Racing is the only one that makes a replacement vent section that does not have the motor installed. It looks like the early 912 section and is shaped like the rectangular hole that the stock 911 part requires. It has a drain hole and an outlet that can be plumbed through the clock hole for fresh air. Its not cheap.

You could save just as much weight by removing the vent motor from the stock housing.

There is one thread about making a custom one from aluminum stock. I will see if I can find it.
